Four new tools are available to service the cylinder heads on 3406B Engines. The cylinder heads on these engines have been redesigned, with smaller diameter fuel injection nozzle adapters. These smaller adapters require the use of different tools to remove and install them.

Fuel Injection Nozzle Puller Tools For 3406B Engines

The new fuel injection nozzle adapter has a smaller inner diameter, for a longer length. To remove the fuel injection nozzle adapter use the new longer 8T3198 Tube and the new longer 8T3199 Screw, with the 6V6983 Adapter and 1B4206 Nut that were used with the former 3406 Engines (see Illustration 1).

Fuel Injection Nozzle Adapter Tools For 3406B Engines

The new smaller diameter fuel injection nozzle adapter requires two new smaller wrenches to remove it from the cylinder head. The new 8T3139 Spanner Wrench (see Illustration 2) is used to remove and install the nozzle retainer. The new 8T3201 Wrench (see Illustration 3) is used to remove and install the fuel injection nozzle adapter.

NOTE: The 8T3201 Wrench is available in two different designs (see Illustration 3). Both designs function the same.
