Service Magazine SEPD0740, June 2004, "A Larger Damper is Now Used". Disregard the article. Refer to the following information.

Description of Change: The damper group has been replaced. The new damper has enhanced properties for vibration dampening. The new damper is equipped with a sampling port that will allow testing of the internal fluid at engine overhaul to determine the condition of the damper. Conversion from the old damper to the new damper is recommended at an engine overhaul.

Adaptable To: The 240-7762 Damper Gp has replaced the 8N-7182 Damper Gp. The 240-7762 Damper Gp is not serviceable. Refer to Table 1 for contents of the 240-7762 Damper Gp .

Note: The existing bolts and washers from the 8N-7182 Damper Gp are reusable.

The 240-7762 Damper Gp is adaptable to first production of the D11R. This change requires the parts that are listed in the Table 2. Use the group numbers that are listed in Tables 2and 3 as an assembly aid.

Note: On S/N:AAF and S/N:; 7PZ machines, the four mounting bolts for the aftercooler water pump may need to be loosened slightly in order to install the damper. By loosening the bolts, the pump flange will be able to rotate. This ensures that the 246-5591 Tube can be correctly aligned.
