Description of Change: A new pinion assembly and seal assembly are being used to improve the service life of the seal. The former carbon seal has been replaced with a lip seal that uses a wear sleeve that is located on the pinion.

Adaptable To: The new pinion assembly and seal assembly are effective with the following models: 631E-II (S/N: 1AB1854), 633E-II (S/N: 2PS317), 637E-II (S/N: 1FB788), 651E (S/N: 4YR211), 657E and (S/N: 6TR217) Wheel Tractors and 657E (S/N: 7KR295; 6PR109) Scrapers. The new parts are a direct replacement for the former parts. All three parts must be replaced as a group.

Note: If the existing pinion can be reused, the pinion can be machined in order to accept the new lip type seal. Use the following illustrations and dimensions to modify the pinion.Use the following charts for reference in order to select the correct new parts.
