(2) Air tank on the scraper |
There are four air tanks that supply the air system and brakes. Three tanks (1) are located on the wheel tractor beneath the operator compartment. Tank (2) is located on the scraper between the two rear wheels.
The air tanks function in order to contain pressurized air for the air system and brakes. The air compressor will not be operating continuously with these tanks.
Air Relief Valve
Illustration 3 | g00102948 |
The main air relief valve is located near the air tanks. If the air compressor governor operates incorrectly, the main air relief valve will open. This will prevent damage to the air system. The setting of the main air relief valve is not adjustable. Refer to Specifications, "Air Tank" for pressure settings.
Check Valve
Illustration 4 | g00575499 |
The one-way check valve is used to allow air flow in one direction only. While air flows into the check valve on the internal thread end, a spring becomes compressed and the internal valve will open. Air under pressure now flows through the check valve.
When air flows into the check valve on the external thread end, the air will push the internal valve upward against a seat. The flow of air is now blocked.
