Note: Verify that all of the components of the tilt cylinder are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.
Note: Check all of the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary. Lubricate O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.
- If necessary, install two plugs (8) and the O-ring seals in rod assembly (17) and cylinder assembly (9) .
- Install O-ring seal (15), backup ring (18) and O-ring seal (14) on head (19) .
- Install lip seal (3), U-cup seal (2), and buffer seal (1) on head (19). Lubricate the sealing lips of lip seal (3), U-cup seal (2), and buffer seal (1) prior to installation.
- Install wear ring (16) on head (19) .
- Install bolts (5) and washers (4) .
- Temporarily install head (19) with six bolts (7) and two bolts (6) to cylinder assembly (9). Tighten six bolts (7) and two bolts (6) by hand. Carefully install rod assembly (17) to head (19) and cylinder assembly (9). Remove bolts that install head (19) and rod assembly (17) to cylinder assembly (9) .
- Install seal assembly (12) and wear ring (11) on piston (13) .
- Use Tool (B) in order to install piston (13) to rod assembly (17). Tighten piston (13) to a torque of 800 ± 80 N·m (590 ± 60 lb ft). Lubricate the face of locknut (10) that contacts the flange of piston (13). Lubricate the threads of locknut (10). Install locknut (10) that holds piston (13) to rod assembly (17). Tighten locknut (10) to a torque of 8000 ± 800 N·m (5900 ± 590 lb ft).
- Slide rod assembly (17) and head (19) into cylinder assembly (9) .
- Install six bolts (7), two bolts (6), and the washers in order to connect head (19) to cylinder assembly (9) .
End By: Install the tilt cylinder. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tilt Cylinder - Install".
