Pump Drive (Front) - Remove
Removal Procedure

Start By:
- Remove the three piston pumps for the implements. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Pump (Fixed Displacement) - Remove".
- Remove the gear pump for the pilot and implement oil cooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Pump (Pilot and Implement Oil Cooler) - Remove".
- Remove the gear pump for the pump drive lubrication. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Pump (Pump Drive Lubrication) - Remove".
- Remove the case drain filters for the implement pumps. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic Oil Filter (Implement Pump Case Drain) - Remove".
- Disconnect the front of the auxiliary drive shaft at the pump drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Auxilliary Drive Shaft - Remove".

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Remove magnetic plug (2) and the gasket in order to drain pump drive (1). The capacity of the pump drive is 7 L (1.8 US gal).

- Remove bolt (3) and the washer in order to disconnect clip assembly (4). This provides more room for the removal of pump drive (1) .

- Disconnect hose assembly (5) from the manifold that is on the pump drive.

- Install Tooling (A) on pump drive (3), as shown. Position a suitable lifting device to Tooling (A). Secure the suitable lifting device to a hoist.

- Remove four bolts (6), the washers, and the locknuts.
- Remove the pump drive. The weight of the pump drive is 190 kg (420 lb).

- If necessary, install Tool (B) in order to position the pump drive for removal.
- If necessary, use a suitable press to remove four mountings (7) .
