Ripper Shank - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

  1. Position the machine on an incline, as shown. Block the front of the machine and apply the service brake.

  1. Lower ripper shank (1) onto blocks, as shown. Retract shank pin (2) .

  1. Slowly raise the ripper frame until first bore (3) on ripper shank (1) will clear the carriage.

    ------ WARNING! ------

    To prevent possible personal injury during removal of the ripper shank, keep away from the area around the lift truck. The ripper shank may fall off the forks of the lift truck during the removal procedure.

  1. Install pin (4) in bore (3), as shown. Position the forks on the lift truck on each side of the ripper shank, as shown. Secure the ripper shank to the carriage of the lift truck.

  1. Raise ripper shank (1) off the blocks with a lift truck and remove the blocks.

  1. Lower ripper shank (1) to the ground with the lift truck.

  1. Raise the ripper frame until ripper shank (1) will clear the carriage. Use a lift truck to remove ripper shank (1). The weight of the ripper shank is approximately 1352 kg (2975 lb).

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the machine on an incline. Block the front of the machine and apply the service brake.

  1. Install pin (4) in the bore, as shown. Position the forks on the lift truck on each side of the ripper shank, as shown. Secure the ripper shank to the carriage of the lift truck.

  1. Raise the ripper frame until ripper shank (1) will clear the carriage. Use a lift truck to install ripper shank (1). The weight of the ripper shank is approximately 1352 kg (2975 lb).

  1. Raise ripper shank (1) into position with the lift truck.

  1. Slowly lower the ripper frame until bore (3) is in alignment.

  1. Extend shank pin (2) .
