Pressure Switch (Pilot) for the Hydraulic System - Check - Submode 25

Usage:

953C 2ZN
Note: The hydraulic system pilot pressure switch is not available on the 963C and on the 973C.

The engine must be ON in order to check the hydraulic system pilot pressure switch. The hydraulic system pressure switch has one circuit that is connected to the ECM. The circuit is grounded only when the implement tilt lever is in the TILTBACK position. The circuit is open in all other conditions.

  1. Start the engine.

  1. Enter the calibration mode (mode 5) of the Caterpillar Monitoring System. Press and hold both the "SERVICE" switch and the "CLEAR" switch at the same time. Release the switches when "-5-" is showing in the display. The indicator for the transmission system should now be ON. The indicator confirms the fact that the calibration mode has been entered.

    Display Area For Submode 25

    (1) Submode Identifier. (2) Status Identifier.

  1. Enter submode 25 (hydraulic system pressure switch check). Press and hold the "SERVICE" switch. Release the switch when "25" is showing on submode identifier (1).

  1. Move the tilt lever back and forth from the HOLD position to the TILTBACK position. Status identifier (2) should change from "11" to "00" between the HOLD and TILTBACK position.

    • "00" means that the tilt lever is in the TILTBACK position.

    • "11" means that the tilt lever is NOT in the TILTBACK position.

Expected Result: The status identifier (2) shows the correct value as the lever is moved from the HOLD position to the FULL TILTBACK position.

    Results:

    • YES - The circuits for the hydraulic system pressure switch are working correctly. Change to a different submode or return the Caterpillar Monitoring System and the hydrostatic transmission ECM to normal mode. To change to a different submode, press and hold the "SERVICE" switch. Release the switch when the number of the submode that is desired is showing on identifier (1). To return to normal mode, press and hold both the "SERVICE" switch and the "CLEAR" switch at the same time. Release the switches when the symbol that resembles a hour meter is shown in the display.

    • NO - Refer to Diagnostic Function, "Pressure Switch (Pilot) for the Hydraulic System".
