The pressure relief setting for the steering system is approximately equal to 31000 kPa (4500.0 psi).

(1) Orient the stem so that the slots are in the position that is shown. This will minimize the variations of the cylinder flow.

(2) 8J-2634 Spring (Inner) for the relief valve

Test force ... 114.6 ± 22.7 N (25 ± 5 lb)

Free length after test ... 69.85 mm (2.750 inch)

(3) 8J-2635 Spring (Outer) for the relief valve

Length under test force ... 61.0 mm (2.40 inch)

Test force ... 161 ± 24.5 N (36 ± 5 lb)

Free length after test ... 69.85 mm (2.750 inch)

Outside diameter ... 30.48 mm (1.200 inch)

(4) 103-8679 Spring for the pilot relief valve

Length under test force ... 47.5 mm (1.87 inch)

Test force ... 472 ± 38 N (106 ± 8 lb)

Free length after test ... 55.4 mm (2.18 inch)

Outside diameter ... 12.46 mm (.490 inch)

(5) Pressure setting for the 6E-0859 Relief Valve (Crossover) ... 34500 kPa (5000 psi)

(6) Torque for the nut ... 13 ± 2 N·m (115 ± 18 lb in)

Note: One 360 degree turn of the adjustment screw will change the pressure setting of the steering crossover relief valve by approximately 3600 kPa (520 psi).

(7) 8B-3115 Shims for balancing the cylinder flow.

Thickness of one shim ... 0.25 mm (.010 inch)

Two shims will change the timing of the steering at high idle by the following amount. ... 0.1 second

Note: The addition of 8B-3115 Shims will cause a faster right turn and a slower left turn. The removal of shims will cause a slower right turn and a faster left turn.

(8) 6E-4040 Spring for the valve stem

Length under test force ... 65.5 mm (2.58 inch)

Test force ... 272 ± 14 N (61 ± 3 lb)

Free length after test ... 68.1 mm (2.68 inch)
