MID 036 - CID 1446 - FMI 09 Unable to communicate with Fuel Metering Module
Conditions Which Generate This Code:
The ECM and the fuel metering valve cannot communicate via the CAN data link.
System Response:
The status parameters for "Fuel Valve Position", "Fuel Pressure (abs)", "Fuel Valve Differential Pressure", and "Fuel Temperature" are not available on the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET).
The alarm output is activated. The code is logged.
Possible Performance Effect:
If communication is restored, the active code will be cleared.
Engine performance is not affected.
Troubleshooting:
Test Step 1. Perform the following diagnostic procedure: "Fuel Metering Valve"
