Aftercooler Coolant Hose Clamps May Be Incorrectly Tightened Caterpillar

Aftercooler Coolant Hose Clamps May Be Incorrectly Tightened

Usage:

WHEEL LOADERS

INTEGRATED TOOLCARRIERS

938G (4YS1-618, 9HS1-365),
950G (4BS1-344, 3JW1-546, 8JW1-197),
962G (5AS1-248, 4PW1-244, 6EW1-210) WHEEL LOADERS;
IT38G (7BS1-502) INTEGRATED TOOLCARRIERS

Problem:

The 8T-9402 Hose Clamps on the 8T-9543 or 108-5746 Hose (the short hose) between the aftercooler and the temperature regulator housing may not have been correctly tightened on some of the 3216 (55K) Engines in these machines. If the hose clamps are loose, an engine coolant leak may result.

Solution:

The problem has been corrected on 3126 (55K3284-Up) Engines in these machines. For earlier 3126 (55K1-3283) Engines with jacket water aftercoolers in these machines, Caterpillar recommends checking the 8T-9402 Hose Clamp at each end of the 8T-9543 or 108-5746 Hose (the short hose) between the aftercooler and the temperature regulator housing. The correct tightening torque for this clamp is 3.0 ± 0.5 N·m (25 ± 5 lb in).

Locations of the 8T-9402 Hose Clamps to check in typical treated water aftercooler group.
