Problem:

An invalid service code (MID 030, CID 511, FMI 55) may be logged on a few of the above machines. The CAT monitoring system remains fully functional, and hte invalid service code can be erased from the monitoring system's memory.

Solution:

The invalid service code can be erased from the monitoring system's memory by following this procedure:

1. Turn the key switch to the "OFF" position.
2. Remove the CAT monitoring system harness code plug.
3. Turn the key switch to the "ON" position, and leave on for at least 30 seconds.
4. Turn the key switch to the "OFF" position.
5. Plug the harness code plug back into the harness.
6. Turn the key switch to the "ON" position, and confirm that the invalid service code is gone.

NOTE: A software change is being planned to prevent the occurrence of this invalid service code. New Cat P/N's will be assigned to the CAT monitoring system main modules. News of the change will be announced in a future Service Magazine article.
