The 6V7870 Fixture Group and the 6V7872 Pliers can be used to disassemble and assemble the plunger and barrel assemblies on the above engines.

Disassembly Of Plunger And Barrel Assembly Using The 6V7870 Fixture Group And The 6V7872 Pliers
1 Remove the plunger and barrel assembly from the fuel injection pump housing as shown in the Service Manual. Select the correct position of turret (1) using the following chart.
2 With turret (1) in the correct location, place barrel assembly (2) in the turret. Loosen nut (3) and turn clamp end (4) until bonnet (5) and barrel are almost touching when clamp handle (6) locks over center. Tighten nut (3). Remove retaining ring (7). On 3406 New Scroll Fuel Systems only, use 6V7872 Pliers (8) to remove retaining ring (7).
3 Hold bonnet (5) against barrel assembly (2), and slowly move handle (6) to the right to release the plunger and barrel assembly.
Assembly Of Plunger And Barrel Assembly Using The 6V7870 Fixture Group
1 Select the correct position of turret (1) using the chart on page 3. Assemble the plunger and barrel assembly as shown in the Service Manual. While holding bonnet (2) against barrel (3), place the plunger and barrel assembly in the turret. Move clamp handle (4) to the left over center. Move bonnet (2), if necessary, to make sure all of the internal parts of the check valve are inside the pocket of the bonnet. Install retaining ring (5).
