These brackets are the service replacement brackets for the lift cylinder brackets on the bucket lift arms on the above machines. After the brackets are welded to the lift arms the holes for the lift cylinder pins must be line bored to a certain size; see Special Instruction Form SEHS8171 "USING HYDRAULIC BORING MACHINES" for the correct operation procedures to machine the bores.
NOTE: In order to get a good weld repair, all welds must be made by a welder who has the ability to make good quality welds. Use only E7018 Welding Rods or the equivalent to make the welds to install the brackets.
(1) Remove the lift arms from the machine; see the Service Manual. Use an Arcair torch or similar tool to remove the damaged bracket from the lift arm. Do not gouge into the lift arm. Grind the area to remove all original weld material and foreign material from the lift arm. Put 5K5144 Bracket (1) [left side] or 5K5143 Bracket (2) [right side] in position on the lift arms. Put a piece of 57.0 mm Ø (2.25"Ø) straight rod through the bores on both lift arms. Hold the bracket tightly against the lift arm, and tack weld it in position at the dimension shown. Remove the rod.
(2) Make a 6.0 mm (.25") fillet weld along side (A). Make a 9.6 mm (.38") J-groove weld and a 13.0 mm (.5") fillet weld around the bracket except along side (A). Make a 25.0 mm (1.0") V-groove weld along side (A).
(3) Use the hydraulic boring machine to machine the bore through the brackets to 69.95 mmØ ± .05 mm (2.754"Ø ± .002"). Install the lift arms on the machine; see the Service Manual.
