Start Inhibit or Shutdown Signal
Determine whether the driven equipment has generated a request for a start inhibit, or a request for a engine shutdown. Determine the cause for the request. Service the driven equipment according to the recommendations of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the equipment.
Circuit for the Driven Equipment Input
The signal that is from the circuit for the driven equipment input at the Electronic Control Module (ECM) must remain closed in order for the engine to run. Check the wiring and the connectors between the driven equipment and the ECM connector for damage and/or corrosion. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Inspecting Electrical Connectors". Repair the wiring, as needed.
Check for continuity of the circuit between terminals P1-21 and P1-31 at the ECM. The circuit must be continuous when the driven equipment is ready. If the circuit is not continuous, locate the source of the excessive resistance. Repair the harness and/or the connectors, as needed.
