Reference: "Water Cooled Turbocharger Now Used" in the July 5, 1982, Service Magazine, on pages 2 and 3. This article tells about the release of a new turbocharger group and two new lines groups.
Some more information about the installation of this turbocharger group is now available. Also, a correction must be made to the last sentence of the earlier article. Change the last sentence to read as follows: "The tee and tube assembly are needed to connect a water line from the rear of the exhaust manifold to the turbocharger."
The 8N6811 Caution Tag, which is part of the water lines group has the "Notice" which follows:
"Vent line must be added from manifold to higher point in cooling system external of the engine. Failure to add or properly install vent line may result in cylinder head or manifold failure."
A new water lines group, which has this vent line, is now available. This group has all the parts needed to install the vent line on 3306 Natural Gas Engines equipped with a radiator supplied (from) by Caterpillar Tractor Co.
The new 2W829 Water Lines Group is adaptable to all engines with a radiator supplied by Caterpillar. For engines equipped with a radiator supplied by another manufacturer, a similar vent system must be used.
