Usage:
All Engines Equipped With A Sleeve Metering Fuel System
The 2P8315 Bracket Assembly is used to hold sleeve metering fuel systems on the fuel injection test bench. Analysis has shown that two currently used sleeve metering fuel systems do not fit in the bracket assembly correctly. They are:
1. The sleeve metering fuel system used on 3208 Engines. It is possible the relief is not cut deep enough to permit clearance for the locator on the governor housing. See Illustration 1.

2. The plug (Illustration 2) used on later design governor housings for 3304 Engines makes contact with the locating dowel for fuel systems used on 3306 Engines.

Also, a small amount of contact can exist between the 2P8315 Bracket Assembly and the J23300-300 Pump Fixture. See Illustration 3.

These problems can cause misalignment between the fuel system and the test bench drive. Misalignment can result in excessive (too much) vibration and coupling wear.
Modifications can be made to the current 2P8315 Bracket Assembly to correct the above problems. Use the procedure which follows:
Modification Of 2P8315 Bracket Assembly
1. To prevent contact between the bracket assembly and the locator on governor housings for 3208 Engines, cut the relief approximately 3.0 mm (.12") deeper.
2. To prevent contact between the locating dowel for sleeve metering fuel systems used on 3306 Engines and later design governor housings used on 3304 Engines, grind the dowel as shown in Illustration 4.
3. To prevent contact between the 2P8315 Bracket Assembly and the J23300-300 Pump Fixture, grind material from the bracket assembly until there is enough clearance.
