  1. Apply Tooling (A) to both ends of pushrods (4). Install pushrods (4).

Note: Ensure that the pushrods are installed in the original location and that the pushrods are seated in the valve lifters correctly.

  2. Loosen nuts (3) and adjustment screws (2) on each rocker arm. This will help prevent a bent valve or a bent pushrod during the installation of the valve mechanism group.

  3. Apply Tooling (A) to each of the bottom faces of the rocker arms.

  4. Position valve mechanism group (5) on the cylinder head. Install bolts (1). Tighten bolts (1) to standard torque.

Note: Ensure that the valve mechanism groups are installed in the original location on the cylinder head and that the pushrods are seated in the rocker arms correctly.

Note: For engines that are rated less than 567 hp, adjust the valve lash to the following values: adjust the inlet valve lash to 0.38 ± 0.08 mm (0.015 ± 0.003 inch) and adjust the exhaust valve lash to 0.64 ± 0.08 mm (0.025 ± 0.003 inch).

Note: For engines that are rated at or above 567 hp, adjust the valve lash to the following values: adjust the inlet valve lash to 0.38 ± 0.08 mm (0.015 ± 0.003 inch) and adjust the exhaust valve lash to 0.76 ± 0.08 mm (0.030 ± 0.003 inch).

  5. Tighten nuts (3) to a torque of 30 ± 7 N·m (22 ± 5 lb ft). Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Engine Valve Lash - Inspect/Adjust" for more information on adjusting the valve lash.

End By:
