Cooling System Coolant Extender (ELC) - Add

Usage:

C7 FML
Caterpillar Extended Life Coolant (ELC) does not require the frequent Supplemental Coolant Additive (SCA) additions that are associated with the present conventional coolants. The Extender only needs to be added once.

Check the cooling system only when the engine is stopped and cool.

  1. Loosen the cooling system filler cap slowly in order to relieve pressure. Remove the cooling system filler cap.

  2. It may be necessary to drain enough coolant from the cooling system in order to add the Extender.

  3. Add Extender according to the requirements for your engine's cooling system capacity. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities and Recommendations" in the Maintenance Section for the capacity of the cooling system for your engine. Refer to the Special Publication, SEBU6385, "Caterpillar On-highway Diesel Truck Engine Fluid Recommendations" for additional information for the Caterpillar ELC Extender additions.

  4. Clean the cooling system filler cap. Inspect the filler cap gaskets. Replace the filler cap if the filler cap gaskets are damaged. Install the cooling system filler cap.
