Crankshaft - Install

Usage:

Installation Procedure

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device (1) to crankshaft (6) and main bearing assembly (5) . The weight of crankshaft (6) and main bearing assembly (5) is approximately 15 kg (33 lb). Lower crankshaft (6) and main bearing assembly (5) into cylinder block (7) . Do not scratch any of the finished surfaces on the crankshaft.

    Note: Ensure that the oil passages in the main bearings align with the oil passages in the cylinder block.

  1. Align the bolt holes at the lower part of the cylinder block with the threaded holes that are on crankcase cross member (4) .

  1. Install allen head screws (2) that are recessed. The screws are located at the rear of the engine. Tighten screws (2) to a torque of 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  1. Install bolts (3) on crankcase cross member (4) . Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 52 N·m (38 lb ft).

  1. Remove suitable lifting device (1) .

End By:

  1. Install the pistons and the connecting rods. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pistons and Connecting Rods - Install".
  2. Install the engine oil pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pump - Install".
  3. Install the housing for the crankshaft rear seal. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Rear Seal - Install".
  4. Install the engine oil relief valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Relief Valve - Remove and Install".
