Engine Oil Pan - Remove

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the oil from the oil pan.

  2. Remove the oil level gauge.

  3. Disconnect tube assembly (1) from the engine block.

  4. Disconnect nut (3) from the oil pan and remove tube assembly (1) and oil gauge tube (2) as a unit.

  5. Remove bolts (4) and the washers that hold oil pan (5) in position and remove the oil pan.

  6. Remove the old gasket from oil pan (5).
