PRIORITY - PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR RELABELING
MODELS INVOLVED - CERTAIN 980G II WHEEL LOADERS WITH 3406E ENGINES
Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
Certain 2001 and 2002 980G II Wheel Loaders with 3406E Engines may have the incorrect kilowatt power printed on the engine information label. It is possible that the ADV Power may erroneously read 248 KW instead of 232 KW.
Please remove the Engine Information label on the left side of the valve cover base and apply the enclosed Information Label. Peel the backing from the self-stick label, and apply it to a clean, dry area on the engine valve cover (LEFT-SIDE MIDDLE OF THE VALVE COVER). Remove the backing from the clear laminate cover and place it over the engine information label. The engine information label is a separate label about 4.5 inches long; and should not be confused with the Engine emission label which shows engine certification data and is 9 inches long.
__ If you no longer own the machine(s) listed below, please return this letter and the label(s), and fill in as much information as possible about the Purchaser or Dealer in the space provided.

__ NO REPLY IS NEEDED if you have the machine and apply the new label
We regret the inconvenience that this may cause you; but having the label in place should eliminate the possibility of any related field enforcement activity that could limit the use of the machine. An engine information label will enhance the ability to sell the machine. Information labels are required whenever machines are moved across United States borders.
