Fuel Injection Lines - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Remove the crankcase breather. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankcase Breather - Remove and Install".

Note: SERVICE DATA: TOOLING (ZZ) WILL NOT BE IDENTIFIED IN PHOTOGRAPHS IN THE REMOVAL OR THE INSTALLATION. THIS TOOLING IS SHOWN IN ORDER TO ASSIST THE EXPERIENCED SERVICEMAN.


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Disconnect fuel injection lines (1) at fuel injection nozzles (2).

  2. Disconnect fuel injection lines (1) at fuel injection pump (3).

  3. Remove fuel injection lines (1).

Installation Procedure


    NOTICE

    Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

    Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Install fuel injection lines (1).

  2. Connect the fuel injection lines at fuel injection nozzles (2). Tighten the nut to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  3. Connect the fuel injection lines at fuel injection pump (3). Tighten the nut to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  4. Remove the air from the fuel system. Refer to Operations and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Prime".

End By:

  1. Install the crankcase breather. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankcase Breather - Remove and Install".
