(1) Protrusion of dowel

The maximum length of the dowel out of the crankshaft face ... 6.4 mm (0.25 inch)

Table 1
Sales Model  (2) Crankshaft End Play
C-15  0.15 mm to 0.55 mm (0.006 inch to 0.022 inch)
C-16  0.15 mm to 0.55 mm (0.006 inch to 0.022 inch)
C-18  0.11 mm to 0.57 mm (0.004 inch to 0.022 inch)

The maximum permissible end play with used bearings ... 0.89 mm (0.035 inch)

(3) Main bearing journal

(4) Connecting rod bearing journal

Refer to Specifications, "Connecting Rod Bearing Journal" and Specifications, "Main Bearing Journal" for more information about the crankshaft journals.

(5) Timing gear

Note: The timing mark "V" is toward the outside of the crankshaft when the gear is installed on the crankshaft.

(6) The length of the dowel out of the crankshaft ... 4.1 ± 0.5 mm (0.16 ± 0.02 inch)

(7) Rear crankshaft seal

The installation depth of the wear sleeve from the end of the crankshaft is the following dimension. ... 1.5 ± 0.5 mm (0.06 ± 0.02 inch)
The metal face on the rear seal should be installed to the following depth from the end of the crankshaft. ... 6.1 ± 0.6 mm (0.24 ± 0.02 inch)

Note: The seal group can not be used once the seal has been separated from the wear sleeve. The seal driver can not contact the seal inside a 177.80 ± 0.25 mm (7.000 ± 0.010 inch) diameter.

(8) The thrust plates are only on the center main bearing.

(9) 2W-1733 Crankshaft Seal (Front)

The wear sleeve is flush with the front face of the crankshaft within the following tolerance. ... ± 0.13 mm (0.005 inch)
Installation depth of the metal face of the seal from the end of the crankshaft ... 4.9 ± 0.6 mm (0.19 ± 0.02 inch)
The wear sleeve must be parallel with the front face of the crankshaft within the following tolerance. ... ± 0.13 mm (0.005 inch)

Note: The seal group can not be used once the seal has been separated from the wear sleeve. The seal driver can not contact the seal inside a 177.80 ± 0.25 mm (7.000 ± 0.010 inch) diameter.

Note: Refer to Special Instruction, SMHS8508, "Special Handling Information and Installation Instructions for Crankshaft Seal Groups That Have Hydrodynamic Grooves In the Sealing Lip" for the correct procedure on the installation of the front seal and the rear seal.
