Usage:

Remove Transmission Oil Pump

start by:

a) remove hydraulic pump *

1. Remove the four bolts (2) to remove transmission pump (1) from the torque converter housing.

2. Remove shaft (3) from the transmission pump.

NOTE: If shaft (3) did not come out of the torque converter housing with the transmission pump, remove it from the torque converter housing.

3. Remove spacer (5) and the O-ring seal from shaft (3).

4. Remove O-ring seals (4), (6) and (7) from the transmission pump.

5. Remove the two bolts (9) and remove base assembly (8) and the O-ring seal. If necessary remove adapter (10) from the base assembly.

6. Remove bearings (11) from base assembly (8).

7. Remove body assembly (12) and the O-ring seal from the cover assembly. If necessary remove the four dowels (13) from the body assembly.

*This operation is in Vehicle Systems section of the Disassembly and Assembly.

8. Remove gears (14) and (15) from cover assembly (16).

9. Remove bearings (17) from cover assembly (16).

Install Transmission Oil Pump

1. Make sure all of the parts of the pump are clean and free of dirt and foreign material. Put clean transmission oil on all of the parts of the pump.

2. Use tool group (A) to install the bearings in cover assembly (1). Make sure the bearing joints are 30° ± 15° from the centerline as shown and are installed to a depth of .062 in. (1.57 mm) below the inside surface of the cover assembly.

3. Install gears (2) and (3) in cover assembly (1).

4. Install the four dowels (5) in body assembly (4) until they extend .32 in. (8.13 mm) from the surfaces of the body assembly.

5. Install O-ring seal (6) and body assembly (4) on the cover assembly.

6. Use tool group (A) to install the bearings in base assembly (7) the same way that the bearings are installed in cover assembly (1).

7. Install O-ring seal (8) and base assembly (7) on the body assembly. Install the two bolts and washers that hold the pump together.

8. Install O-ring seals (12), (13) and (14) on the base assembly.

9. Install spacer (10) and O-ring seal (11) on shaft (9). Install shaft (9) in the pump.

10. Put transmission oil pump (15) in the torque converter housing and install the four bolts that hold it.
