K65-12B Voltage Regulator (1) Stability adjustment |
Illustration 2 | g01021519 |
The Cat K65-12B Voltage Regulator presents an electrical shock/electrocution hazard. This hazard will cause serious injury or death. Service by trained personnel only. The terminals and heat sinks are live at hazardous voltages when power is applied and for up to 8 minutes after power is removed. |
An oscilloscope should be used if an optimal stability is desired. Rotate stability adjustment (1) in the clockwise direction (CW direction) in order to slow the response time. Rotate stability adjustment in the counterclockwise direction (CCW direction) if you need to increase the response time. If the adjustment is rotated CCW beyond a certain point, the generator voltage may oscillate or the voltage may hunt.
Good response can be obtained with the following procedure:
- Start the generator.
- Run the generator at no load.
- Rotate stability adjustment (1) CW until the voltage becomes stable.
- Rotate stability adjustment (1) CCW until the system just begins to oscillate.
- Rotate stability adjustment (1) CW until the voltage starts to oscillate.
Note: If the adjustment cannot be turned CCW and the voltage is stable, leave the adjustment alone. This gives the fastest response to load changes.
