To install the piston pin bearing, the connecting rod must be heated. Do not use a torch to heat the connecting rod.
- Maximum temperature for heating of connecting rod ... 175 °C to 260 °C (347 °F to 500 °F)
(A) The bearing junction and the locating hole are angled 180 degrees from each other. The bearing junction and the locating hole must be assembled within area (A).
(X) Tolerance for installation of bearing junction and locating hole ... ± 5 degrees

(6) Connecting rod bolts
Use the following procedure to tighten the connecting rod bolts:
- Put engine oil on the bolt threads and the contact surfaces before assembly.
- Tighten the bolts in the following order.
Torque for bolts (A) and (C) ... 70 ± 4 N·m (52 ± 3 lb ft)
Torque for bolts (B) and (D) ... 70 ± 4 N·m (52 ± 3 lb ft)
Additionally tighten each bolt. (B) and (D) ... 60 ± 5 degrees
Torque for bolts (A) and (C) ... 70 ± 4 N·m (52 ± 3 lb ft)
Additionally tighten each bolt. (A) and (C) ... 60 ± 5 degrees
(7) Torque for bolt (7) ... 25 ± 6 N·m (18 ± 4 lb ft)
Side clearance between two connecting rods on same new crankshaft pin ... 0.28 to 0.84 mm (0.011 to 0.033 inch)
