Introduction
This special instruction provides a replacement procedure to replace the full open protected labyrinth (OPL) with a partial-OPL on the final drive housing. The new partial-OPL design of the final drives prevents mud packing which leads to final drive oil leaks at the duo-cone seals. The new partial-OPL final drive design should be used on hydraulic excavator that has had final drive oil leaks due to mud packing.
Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.
Safety Section
Do not attempt to assemble this machine until you read and you understand the assembly instructions. Improper assembly procedures could result in injury or death. |
Personal injury or death can result from lifting a heavy component. The heavy component can fall if using an incorrect hoist and/or sling or fastener to lift the load. Be sure the hoist and other devices have the correct lifting capacity to lift a heavy component. The approximate weight of the heavy component is given below. |
