Battery Charger (Low Voltage) |
The standard battery charger provides an electrical source in order to charge batteries for the engine. The following items are included with the battery charger:
- 20 ampere rated battery charger
- Switch for float control and charge equalization
- Ammeter for DC output
- Circuit breakers and the control circuit
The battery charger requires 240 ACV in order to operate. This power is provided by the customer through the connections for shore power. This power is supplied by the generator through the distribution transformer while the engine is running.
The battery charger is designed to operate on a specific number of battery cells. The nameplate indicates the type of cells and the number of cells that are required. Once the rectifier is properly installed and adjusted, the rectifier will maintain the batteries in a fully charged condition.
Ensure that the polarities of the batteries are correct when the batteries are connected.

The battery may become discharged. Ensure that the battery is fully charged. Move the switch for "FLOAT" or "EQUALIZE" (2) to the "EQUALIZE" position in order to charge the battery. When the battery is fully charged return the switch for "FLOAT" or "EQUALIZE" (2) to the "FLOAT" position.

Note: The relays for power distribution which are source selective include relays for the following items: heaters, lighting, battery charger and other circuits for AC for the power module.
Note: The battery charger is rated at 24 DCV and 20 amperes. The battery charger is switched ON and the battery charger is switched OFF from the rocker switches and the breakers that are mounted on the door.
