Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
- Remove the engine oil filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Filter Base - Remove".

Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
Engine Mounted Oil Filter Base

- Remove two plugs (1) and (2) from oil filter base (3) .
- Remove springs (5) and valves (6). Remove O-ring seals (4) from plugs (1) and (2). Inspect the parts for wear or damage. If the parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

- Remove plug (3) from oil filter base (7) .
- Remove spring (5) and valve (6). Remove O-ring seals (4) from plug (3). Inspect the parts for wear or damage. If the parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.
