Switchgear - Check

Usage:

PM3508 BLM
Inspect the switchgear yearly. Inspect the switchgear when the power module is relocated. Inspect the switchgear after any severe electrical malfunction.

Any of the abnormal conditions that are found in the list below should be eliminated. Any necessary preventive actions should be taken immediately in order to sustain future safe operations.

  • Visually check the switchgear for any signs of moisture or previous indications of moisture.

  • Visually check the switchgear for any accumulation of dust and dirt. Clean out the switchgear. Use a brush, a vacuum cleaner, or a clean lint free cloth in order to clean the switchgear.

  • Ensure that all electrical joints on the bus are secure and tight.

  • Ensure that all of the electrical wiring is secure and that all of the connections to the load cable are secure. Replace any damaged parts and remove any damaged portion of cables if the connections appear to be discolored or damage to any cable is visible.

  • Ensure that all mechanical components operate freely.

Disassemble the components if any of the connections are in any condition that is listed:

  • The components appear to be discolored.

  • The components appear to be corroded.

  • The components appear to be pitted.

These conditions may be due to looseness or due to overheating. Replace the components or clean the components if it is necessary.

Inspect the switchgear when any of these events occur:

  • One year has passed.

  • The power module has been relocated.

  • A severe electrical malfunction has happened.
