Type "A" Final Drive

Without the sun gear in place, the brakes are ineffective. Personal injury or death could result. Provide other means to hold or stop the machine.

1. Thoroughly clean the area around the final drive. Make sure that you also clean the track shoes that are positioned above the final drive.

Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information" for information that pertains to Containing Fluid Spillage.

2. Drain the final drive oil into a suitable container. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Final Drive Oil - Change" for the procedure.

3. Remove sixteen cover bolts (1), final drive cover (2), and thrust plate (3) .

4. Remove sun gear (4) from the final drive.

5. Install thrust plate (3), final drive cover (2), and cover bolts (1). These parts were removed previously.

6. Fill the final drive with clean oil. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Final Drive Oil - Change" for the procedure.

7. Repeat the procedure for the other final drive.

8. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive - Assemble" in this Owner's Manual for information on the installation of the final drive sun gear.

Type "B" Final Drive

3. Remove twelve cover bolts (1), and final drive cover (3) .

4. Remove sun gear (2) from the final drive.

5. Install final drive cover (3), and cover bolts (1). These parts were removed previously.

6. Fill the final drive with clean oil. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Final Drive Oil - Change" for the procedure.

7. Repeat the procedure for the other final drive.

8. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive - Assemble" in this Owner's Manual for information on the installation of the final drive sun gear.
