Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

- Remove turbocharger cover (1) from the turbocharger.
Note: The turbocharger cover is constructed of fiberglass. Wear a mask when the turbocharger cover is removed.
- Remove hose clamp (8) and hose (6) that connects the air inlet heater (4) to turbocharger (12) .

- Remove nuts (16) from studs (15) that connect exhaust elbow (14) to turbocharger (12). Remove bolts (23) and nuts (10) that connect exhaust elbow (14) to the exhaust piping. Remove exhaust elbow (14) .
Note: Before removing exhaust elbow (14), ensure that the exhaust piping is properly supported.
- Remove nut (2) from bracket (20) for the oil supply line (3) .
- Remove the bolts from the flange of oil supply line (3) .
- Remove bolts (21) from flange (19) for the oil return line. Remove gasket (18) .
- Remove the four nuts (17) from studs (5) that hold turbocharger (12) onto the exhaust manifold. Remove the turbocharger from the exhaust manifold. Remove gasket (9) .
