Crankshaft Vibration Damper and Pulley - Remove and Install

  1. Remove guard assembly (1).

    Cooling system package removed for photographic purposes.

    Note: The combined weight of the vibration damper and the crankshaft adapter is approximately 22 kg (48 lb). Remove the vibration damper and the crankshaft pulley before the crankshaft adapter is removed from the engine.

  2. Remove belt (2). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Belt - Inspect/Adjust/Replace".

  3. Remove one of bolts (3) and install Tooling (A).

  4. Remove the remaining bolts (3). Remove vibration damper (5) from crankshaft adapter (4). Remove Tooling (A).

  5. Use a suitable tool to prevent the crankshaft from rotating. Use Tooling (B) to remove bolts (6). Remove crankshaft adapter (7).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the crankshaft vibration damper and the pulley in reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten bolts (6) to a torque of 40 N·m (30 lb ft) plus an additional 120 degrees.

    2. Evenly space bolts (3) on crankshaft vibration damper (4). Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 115 N·m (85 lb ft).
