Engine Oil Cooler - Remove and Install - 3054 Engine

Usage:

3054 CHN

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Loosen hose clamps (4) for the coolant lines. Remove the coolant lines.

  1. Remove engine oil cooler adapter bolt (3) from engine oil cooler (2). Remove engine oil cooler (2) from the engine oil filter base (1) .

Installation Procedure

  1. Clean the mating surfaces of the oil cooler (6) and the oil filter base (3) .

  1. Position a new rubber O-ring seal on the engine oil cooler (2). Install engine oil cooler (2) onto engine oil filter base (1) .

  1. Install engine oil cooler adapter bolt (3) on oil filter base (1) and tighten to a torque of 37 N·m (27 lb ft).

  1. Install coolant hoses onto engine oil cooler (2). Tighten hose clamps (4) .
