  • Engine News SEBD9443, 30 April 2007, "Maintenance Recommendations for rhe Crankshaft Vibration Dampers". Disregard the article. The address for the fluid analysis has changed. Refer to the information below.

The maintenance interval for the crankshaft vibration dampers on these engines is 20,000 hours of operation or the Top End Overhaul. Use the interval which occurs first.

The 102-7613 Damper does not have a port for a fluid sample. This damper must be rebuilt or replaced after 20,000 hours of operation or at the Top End Overhaul.

Note: Refer to the applicable Disassembly And Assembly Manual for the procedure to repair the damper. Refer to the applicable Parts Manual for the availability of a repair kit for the damper.

Locations of the ports for a fluid sample.

The 7C-2122 Damper and the 7C-2123 Damper have ports for a fluid sample. Refer to Illustration 1. If the crankshaft vibration damper exhibits no external damage, collect a two to five mL sample of the fluid from the damper. Obtain a fluid analysis that checks for a loss of viscosity. Use the results of the analysis to determine if the damper should be rebuilt or replaced. Kits for fluid samples are available from the following address. Return the samples to the same address for analysis.
