Starting the Engine

Usage:

NOTICE

Do not crank the engine for more than 30 seconds. Allow the electric starting motor to cool for two minutes before cranking the engine again.

Note: If the engine does not start within ten seconds, shut down the fuel supply to the engine. Crank the engine for ten seconds in order to clear the cylinders of unburned fuel.

If the Engine Control Switch (ECS) is in the "AUTO" position, the engine will start automatically. The engine will start once the remote contact is in the closed position. The engine will accelerate to rated speed within a programmed warm up cycle. The engine will accelerate to rated speed once the oil pressure sensor indicates that there is sufficient oil pressure.

Manual Starting

Perform all of the prestart checks. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Before Starting The Engine" for additional information.
Open the main electrical circuit breaker.
Ensure that the governor control lever is moved to idle speed.
