Description of Change: The Marine Power Display is now available. The Marine Power Display is a single-engine monitoring and display system that provides instantaneous information from the engine and the transmission. The Marine Power Display is compact, durable, and designed for operation in adverse temperatures and weather conditions.
The display screens can be customized with the Marine Power Display Screen Builder PC software that is shipped with Operator's Manual, LEBM0189, "Marine Power Display". The screens can be customized in order to satisfy the individual preferences for three separate users. The screens can display different engine parameters on different sizes and types of gauges. Installation instructions for the Marine Power Display are included in Installation Guide, SENR5002-02, May 2000, "Marine Engine Electronic Displays".
Adaptable To: The 196-5243 Marine Power Display can be used with the engine models that are identified above. The Marine Power Display is not programmed when the display is shipped from the Caterpillar Parts Distribution System. The display must be FLASHED with a 196-5238 FLASH file at the time of installation.
Refer to the appropriate information below in order to identify the requirements for particular engine models. The latest FLASH files can be retrieved from the Service Information System (SIS CD, SIS DVD or SIS Web).

Verify that the ECM on 3176C, 3196, and 3406E Marine Engines is a 145-7805 Electronic Control Module. This ECM contains the appropriate data link circuitry for communication with the Marine Power Display.
