Electronic Service Tools

Usage:

G3508 2JF
The electronic service tools for the timing control system are designed to assist the operator and the service technician with the diagnosis of the ignition system.

The principal service tool for the timing control system is the 7X-1400 Electronic Tool Group which is also called the Digital Diagnostic Tool (DDT). This is a hand-held tool that communicates with the Timing Control Module (TCM). The DDT requires the Service Program Module, NEGX4511 for communicating with the timing control system. The correct cable and the correct adapter are necessary for use of the DDT. The DDT is used for the following functions:

  • Reading diagnostic codes and information on the status of the engine operation

  • Displaying the information for the user

  • Programming the customer specified parameters into the TCM

  • Calibrating the magneto

The 9U-7330 Digital Multimeter is used for the measurement of electricity. The digital multimeter is used extensively throughout the troubleshooting procedures in order to analyze system operation.

The 163-5443 Adapter Cable (3-Pin Breakout) is used to aid in the isolation of problems which are related to the detonation. This tool helps to perform basic checks of the detonation sensors.
