A New Inlet Valve is Released for use in 3116 and 3126 Truck Engines with the Two Valve Configuration. {1105}

Usage:

3126 1WM
Truck Engines:
3116 (S/N: 2BK; 2FR; 3RJ; 5JZ; 5RM; 7AG; 7HS; 7JL; 7SF; 8WL; 9CJ; 9GK; 9LN; 9YN)
3126 (S/N: 1WM; 4ES; 7LZ; 8HW)

Description of Change: A new inlet valve has been released for all two valve 3116 and 3126 Truck Engines. These Truck Engines have one inlet valve and one exhaust valve per cylinder.

Adaptable To: The new 161-4280 Inlet Valve and the new 163-9063 Valve Seat Insert are replacements for the former inlet valves and the former valve seat inserts in Table 1.

Note: The part number of the former inlet valve can be found on the combustion side of the valve head.

Table 1
Valve Seat Insert
New Inlet Valve     New Valve Seat Insert     Former Inlet Valve     Former Valve Seat Insert
161-4280     163-9063     113-6180     169-6862
 (1)
161-4280     163-9063     7W-8064     7W-8065
161-4280     163-9063     101-3198     130-9004
( 1 ) The 169-6862 Valve Seat Insert can be reused with the new 161-4280 Inlet Valve, if the valve seat insert meets reusability guidelines. For information on the reusability of the valve seats, refer to Guideline For Reusable Parts And Salvage Operations, SEBF8218, "Specifications for Cylinder Head Assemblies 3114, 3116, and 3126 Engines".

Note: The new valve seat inserts must be machined after installation in order to recess the valve head. Dimension X in Illustration 1 must be 1.59 ± .46 mm (0.063 ± 0.018 inch) after machining.
