Sea Water Module Interface
- With only the SWMI device connected to the PL1000T, observe the "GPSIM Statistics" screen. Use the service tool status screens in order to view the "GPSIM Statistics" information. Confirm that the "Total Number of NMEA-183 Messages Received" does increment. If the values do not regularly increment, then the data is not being reliably transmitted by the SWMI device. Refer to the troubleshooting documentation that is for the SWMI device in order to determine the reason why the values do not consistently increment.
- If the value for the total number of invalid or unsupported "NMEA-183" messages increment, this indicates the SWMI is not transmitting standard "NMEA-183" formatted messages. The PL1000T is only compatible with devices that adhere to the NMEA-183 standard messages. The sensing device should be replaced with a device that transmits standard NMEA-183 messages.
Problem-No SWMI Information Available on Cat Datalink or J1939
- Confirm that the "SWMI Endable Status" is set to "Enabled".
- Observe the "GPSIM Statistics" information with the use of the service tool status screens. Confirm that the PL1000T is regularly receiving NMEA-183 messages. If these statistics do not regularly increment, then the SWMI device is not reliably transmitting the data. Refer to the troubleshooting documentation that is for the SWMI device in order to determine the reason why the values do not consistently increment.
- If troubleshooting procedures for the SWMI device indicate no problems with that device, then the system harnessing should be analyzed and repaired.
SWMI Information is Available on Cat Datalink but not J1939
- The SWMI information that is available on Cat Datalink indicates that the SWMI feature is properly enabled. The system harnessing should be analyzed and repaired.
