Installation Procedure

Typical example

1. Attach a suitable strap and a lifting device to the turbocharger. The weight of the turbocharger is approximately 30 kg (66 lb).

2. Install a new gasket for the joint between the exhaust elbow and the turbocharger.

3. Lift the turbocharger into position on the exhaust elbow. Install bolts and washers (6) that attach the turbocharger to the exhaust elbow.

4. Install a new gasket for the joint between the turbocharger and the exhaust manifold.

5. Coat the threads and the bearing surfaces of bolts and locknuts (5) with 4C-5598 High Temperature Anti-Seize. Install bolts and locknuts (5) that attach the turbocharger to the exhaust manifold. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 54 ± 5 N·m (40 ± 4 lb ft).

6. Coat the bore of a new O-ring seal for tube (4) with glycerin or equivalent. Install the O-ring seal. Connect tube (4) for the water drain.

7. Coat the bore of a new O-ring seal for tube (3) with clean engine oil. Install the O-ring seal. Connect tube (3) for the oil drain.

8. Coat the bore of a new O-ring seal for tube (2) with glycerin or equivalent. Connect tube (2) for the water supply.

9. Coat the threads and the bearing surfaces of the bolts for adapter (1) with 4C-5598 High Temperature Anti-Seize. Use the bolts and washers to install adapter (1) for the oil supply hose.

10. Fill the jacket water cooling system. For the proper coolant to use, see the Operation and Maintenance Manual.
