Air Shutoff - Remove and Install

Usage:

3512 4DR

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Remove bolts (1) and the washers that attach pipe (2) to the air outlet for the turbocharger.

  2. Disconnect two electrical connectors (5) from the solenoid for air shutoff (3).

  3. Disconnect connector (6) for the inlet air temperature sensor.

  4. Remove bolts (7) that attach elbow (4) to the aftercooler.

  5. Lift elbow (4), air shutoff (3), and pipe (2) upward from the aftercooler. Remove elbow (4), air shutoff (3), and pipe (2) as a unit.

  6. Remove two seals from the end of pipe (2) that was inserted into the air outlet of the turbocharger. Discard the seals.

  7. Remove the seal from the joint between elbow (4) and the aftercooler. Discard the seal.

Installation Procedure


NOTICE

  1. Install a new seal for the joint between elbow (4) and the aftercooler.

  2. Coat the bores of two new seals for the end of pipe (2) with glycerin or equivalent. Install the seals on the pipe.

  3. Install elbow (4), air shutoff (3), and pipe (2) as a unit. Place the end of pipe (2) into the air outlet of the turbocharger. Place elbow (4) into position on the aftercooler.

  4. Install bolts (7) that attach elbow (4) to the aftercooler.

  5. Install bolts (1) and the washers that attach pipe (2) to the air outlet for the turbocharger.

  6. Connect connector (6) for the inlet air temperature sensor.

  7. Connect two electrical connectors (5) to the solenoid for air shutoff (3).
