Connecting Rod Bearings - Install

Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
- Clean upper connecting rod bearing (4) and lubricate the bearing face with clean engine oil.
- Clean lower connecting rod cap (3) and the lower connecting rod bearing. Lubricate the bearing face with clean engine oil.
Note: Align the tabs on the connecting rod bearings with the tab grooves in the connecting rod.
- Pull the connecting rod into position against the crankshaft. The connecting rod may need to be rotated in order to prevent contact with the piston cooling jet.
- Install connecting rod cap (3) and the lower connecting rod bearing together in connecting rod (2).
- Install bolts (1) and the nuts in the connecting rod (2). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of
155 N·m (114 lb ft) . Tighten the nuts to a torque of125 N·m (92 lb ft) . - Repeat Steps 1 through 5 for the remaining connecting rod bearings.
