Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. - For assembly purposes, put identification marks on hose assembly (2) and hose assembly (3) . Disconnect hose assembly (2) and hose assembly (3) from the travel motor. Put a plug in the end of each hose assembly. Plugs prevent oil loss and plugs keep contaminants out of the hydraulic system.
- Use Tooling (A) to remove bolts (4) and the washers that hold the final drive to the undercarriage frame assembly. Carefully remove the final drive and the travel motor from the undercarriage frame assembly. The combined weight of the final drive and the travel motor is 714 kg (1575 lb).
