  1. Be sure that all parts of the swing motor are thoroughly clean and free of dirt and debris prior to assembly. Check the condition of all parts in the swing motor. The Guideline For Reusable Parts, SEBF8032, "Piston Pumps And Motors" can be used as a guide for determining the reusability of some parts.

  2. Check the condition of all O-ring seals and all backup rings that are used in the swing motor, relief valves and anti-reaction valves. If any of the seals or rings are damaged, use new parts for replacement.

  3. Lower the temperature of bearing (46). Use Tool (A) to install the bearing in barrel (43).

  4. Install spring (45) on the barrel, as shown.

  5. Install seven pistons (44) in retainer plate (42) in the original locations.

  6. Install the retainer plate with the pistons in barrel (43). Be sure that the pistons are installed in the original bores in the barrel.

  7. Install plate (41) over retainer plate (42). The chamfered edge of the plate should be facing upward, as shown.

  8. Heat bearing cone (40) and install the bearing cone on the barrel, as shown. Be sure that the bearing cone is seated against the shoulder on the barrel. Apply clean oil on the bearing cup.

  9. Install ring (39) on the barrel, as shown. Apply clean oil on the sealing lip of the ring.

    Note: Seal (48) is a double lip seal.

  10. Apply 5P-3413 Pipe Sealant in the bore of the motor housing that seal (48) fits. Use Tool (A) to install seal (48) in motor housing (38). Install the seal until the seal makes contact with the counterbore in the motor housing. The lip should be facing toward the inside of the motor housing.

  11. Lower the temperature of bearing cup (47). Install the bearing cup in the motor housing. Use Tool (A) to properly seat the bearing cup.

  12. Put the motor housing on a wood block. Carefully install barrel (37) in the motor housing.

  13. Install friction plate (36) and plate (35) in the motor housing. Apply 1U-6395 O-Ring Assembly Compound on O-ring seal (34). Install O-ring seal (34) in the motor housing.

  14. Apply 1U-6395 O-Ring Assembly Compound on O-ring seal (33). Install O-ring seal (33) on piston (32).

  15. Install piston (32) in the motor housing (38).

  16. Install 16 springs (31) in the piston, as shown.

  17. Install the four plates, four rings and four bushing in cover (19). Install the two rings and two pistons in the cover. Install valve plate (27) in the original position on the cover. Lower the temperature of inner race (28). Install the inner race on the cover. Be sure that the inner race is seated against the cover. Install retaining ring (30).

  18. Install O-ring seal (29) on the cover.

  19. Install the O-ring seal and the backup ring on anti-reaction valves (24) and (21). Install the anti-reaction valves in the cover. Tighten each anti-reaction valve to a torque of 39.2 ± 3.9 N·m (29 ± 3 lb ft).

  20. Be sure that the mating surface of the motor housing and the cover are thoroughly clean. Apply 5P-3413 Pipe Sealant on the mating surface of cover (19). Put the cover in the original position on the motor housing. Install four bolts (20) that hold the cover in place. Tighten the four socket head bolts to a torque of 103 ± 10 N·m (75 ± 7 lb ft).

  21. Install O-ring seal (17) and backup ring (18) in each relief valve (16).

  22. Install two relief valves (16) in the cover in the original location. Tighten each relief valve to a torque of 39.2 ± 3.9 N·m (29 ± 3 lb ft).

  23. Install the O-ring seal, the backup ring and the plug of check valves (3) and (10). Install the valve, the spring and the plug of check valves (3) and (10) in the cover.

  24. Install mounting bolt (2) in the motor housing in the location that is shown. The bolt cannot be installed with the oil level gauge and gauge tube (1) in place.

  25. Install the oil level gauge and gauge tube (1).


NOTICE

The swing motor must be filled with the correct oil prior to operation.

Failure to maintain proper oil level in the swing motor may result in damage to the motor.


End By:

  1. Install the swing motor and fill the motor with oil. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Swing Motor - Install" in this module.
