Start By:

  1. Remove the swing motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Swing Motor - Remove".


    NOTICE

    Failure to properly assemble parts or failure to follow established procedures can lead to damage of the parts and assembly.

    To avoid damage to parts, always identify and mark the parts so that they can be installed in the same location. Ensure that gear surfaces align. Never force parts during assembly.


  1. Put identification marks on all parts of the swing motor for installation purposes.

  2. Remove the oil level gauge and gauge tube (1).

  3. Remove mounting bolt (2) from the housing.

  4. Remove check valve (3) from the cover. Remove plug (4), spring (5) and valve (6).

  5. Remove O-ring seal (8) and backup ring (7) from the plug.

  6. Remove oil filler tube (9) from the cover.

  7. Remove check valve (10) from the cover. Remove plug (13), spring (12) and valve (11).

  8. Remove O-ring seal (14) and backup ring (15) from the plug.

  9. Remove two relief valve (16). Remove O-ring seal (17) and backup ring (18) from each relief valve.

  10. Remove four socket head bolts (20) and cover (19) from the motor housing.

  11. Remove anti-reaction valve (21) from the cover. Remove O-ring seal (22) and backup ring (23) from the anti-reaction valve.

  12. Remove anti-reaction valve (24) from the cover. Remove O-ring seal (25) and backup ring (26) from the anti-reaction valve.

  13. Turn over the cover, as shown. Remove O-ring seal (29) from the cover. Remove retaining ring (30) and inner race (28) from the cover. Remove valve plate (27). Remove the two pistons and two rings from the cover. Remove the four bushings, four rings and four plates from the cover.

  14. Remove 16 springs (31) from the piston.

  15. Install the two threaded rods of Tooling (A) in threaded puller holes in piston (32). Install the remainder of Tooling (A), as shown. Alternate the tightening of the two nuts of Tooling (A) in order to pull piston (32) from the motor housing.

  16. Remove O-ring seal (33) from piston (32).

  17. Remove O-ring seal (34) from the motor housing. Remove plate (35) and friction plate (36) from the motor housing.

  18. Turn over motor housing (38), as shown. Use a soft faced hammer to tap on the end of barrel (37). This should free the barrel from the motor housing. Remove the motor housing from the barrel.

  19. Remove ring (39) from the barrel.

  20. Use Tooling (B) to remove bearing cone (40) from the barrel.

  21. Remove plate (41).

  22. Put identification marks on the nine pistons for installation purposes.

  23. Remove retainer plate (42) and the seven pistons from barrel (43).

  24. Separate seven pistons (44) from retainer plate (42).

  25. Remove spring (45) from the barrel.

  26. Remove bearing (46) from the barrel (43).

  27. Remove bearing cup (47) from motor housing (38).

  28. Remove seal (48) from motor housing (38).
