Rotary Manifold - Remove

Usage:

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Close the jaws of the work tool and remove the work tool from the host machine. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, GEBJ0067, "Pulverizer Attachment - Remove and Install".

Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Ensure that the work tool is resting on a hard, level surface.

  1. Remove four bolts and the washers that secure cover (1) to the upper housing. Remove the cover from the work tool.

  1. Put identification marks on all hoses for installation purposes. Plug all hoses in order to help prevent fluid loss and contamination of the fluid system.

  1. Remove eight bolts, the washers, and four half flanges that secure two hose assemblies (2) to the upper housing. Remove the two O-ring seals from the hoses.

  1. Remove two hose assemblies (3) from the upper housing. Remove the four O-ring seals from the hoses.

  1. Remove eight bolts, the washers, and four half flanges that secure two hose assemblies (2) to rotary manifold (4). Remove the two O-ring seals from the hoses.

  1. Remove eight bolts (5) and the washers that secure block (6). Separate the block from the rotary manifold. Remove the two O-ring seals from the block.

  1. Rotate upper housing (7) to an upward position. Remove two of the bolts (8) and the washers that secure rotary manifold (4) to the housing.

  1. Rotate upper housing (7) to a horizontal position.

  1. Install a lifting eye into the top of the rotary manifold. Attach the lifting eye to a suitable lifting device. Place a block under the rotary manifold. Remove the two remaining bolts (8) and the washers.

  1. Use the lifting device and the block to slide the rotary manifold (4) out of the upper housing (7). The weight of the rotary manifold is 35 kg (77 lb).
