Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Close the jaws of the work tool and remove the work tool from the host machine. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, GEBJ0067, "Pulverizer Attachment - Remove and Install".

Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Ensure that the work tool is resting on a hard, level surface.

  1. Remove the four bolts and the washers that secure cover (1) to the upper housing. Remove the cover.

  1. Put identification marks on all hoses for installation purposes. Plug all hoses in order to help prevent fluid loss and contamination of the fluid system.

  1. Remove two hose assemblies (2) from gerotor motor (3). Remove the two O-ring seals.

  1. Remove eight bolts, the washers, and four half flanges that secure two hose assemblies (4) to the rotary manifold. Remove the two O-ring seals from the hoses.

  1. Remove eight bolts, the washers, and four half flanges that secure two hose assemblies (4) to the upper housing. Remove the O-ring seals from the hoses. Remove the hoses from the work tool.

  1. Remove four bolts (5) and the washers that secure mounting plate (6) to the housing.

  1. Remove gerotor motor (3) and mounting plate (6) from the upper housing. Use two people to lift the motor from the work tool. The weight of the motor assembly is 22 kg (49 lb).

  1. Secure gerotor motor (3) in a vise.

  1. Remove spring pin (7) from the shaft.

  1. Remove nut (8) and gear (9) .

  1. Remove four bolts (10) and the washers that secure plate (6) to the motor. Remove the plate.

  1. Remove four bolts (11) that secure relief valve (12) to motor (3). Remove the relief valve from the motor.

  1. Remove two O-ring seals (13) .
