Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Remove bolt (2) and the clamp that holds the oil supply tube and the oil drain tube in position.

  1. Remove two bolts (1) that hold the oil supply tube to the turbocharger. Remove two bolts (3) that hold the oil drain tube to the turbocharger.

  1. Loosen nut (4) and remove the oil supply tube from the engine.

  1. Loosen four bolts (6) and the nuts that hold turbocharger (5) to the exhaust manifold. Remove turbocharger (5) and the gasket from the exhaust manifold. Remove oil drain tube (7) from the engine and check the O-ring seal for damage. If the O-ring seal is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.
